My father told me from an early age that I could do anything in the world I wanted to do, but before that I must complete a college degree. I started putting myself through college and it took 7 years for me to complete my bachelor’s degree. I knew I would need a graduate degree to become a social worker or counselor and I was exhausted, so I signed up to become a Naval Officer. It was much worse than I could have imagined and I finally got released in 1990 and began the search for what I did want to do. I got another Masters degree in Counseling.
After being a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in trauma recovery for women for over 7 years I went through a painful divorce and took a sabbatical. I accidentally applied for and got a job selling basement waterproofing because I was so ignorant about sales that I thought a company “representative” was just someone who “represented” a company. I did not realize I was getting a “commission only sales position” or I am certain it would have frightened me. Marvelously I discovered that I am very effective in sales because I listen well and truly want to help.
When I returned to NC in 2001 to care for my elderly parents I was unable to find work in my field that would pay my bills and after a long series of disappointing jobs I read Robert Kiyosaki’s “Rich Dad/Poor Dad” and it changed my entire perspective about money. I developed a wonderful home based business with Excel Telecommunications and learned a lot about being in business for myself and building teams. Through a series of events, Excel was effectively killed by a merger with Vartec and my residual income came to an abrupt and unexpected stop on October 31, 2004. I began my entrepreneurship in real estate in November 2004, and went from negative cash flow and excessive debt to having a net worth of $2.7MM in 2006. I am a life long learner and committed student of T. Harv Eker’s Peak Potentials Quantum Leap program. In 2007 I was awarded the Peaks Achievement Award from Peak Potentials and inducted into the $2 Million Club with the Enlightened Wealth Institute.
In August 2007 my parents needed me to move into their home to care for them. I had to find a way to earn money from their home to keep all of my creditors paid. It was at this time that I was blessed to find a real and profitable home based business with Coastal Vacations that allowed me to earn enough money part time that I could provide full time care for my bed ridden parents and pay all my bills and not lose my own home. I started my business with Coastal Vacations in August 2007 and by New Year’s Eve 2007 I had earned over $67,000.00 from that business alone. Despite my success in this wonderful business, when the real estate bubble burst in 2008 and my father needed more care through 2008 until he passed the day after Thanksgiving, I lost most of the property I acquired in 2009.
I am very spiritual and tend to have placed a much higher value on the needs of others than I have upon my own needs. Even though flight attendants are quick to remind us to put the oxygen mask on ourselves first BEFORE we try to assist others, I was slow to learn that lesson. I have a wealth of experiences and wisdom gained from making poor decisions and not trusting my inner guidance. At this point in my life I intend to be congruent and authentic, and help other people get to that point faster than I did. It has always been important to me to leave this planet better than I found it, and I practice the principle of treating others the way I want to be treated.
My Mission is to inspire, uplift, and empower people to create the life of their dreams enthused with joy, love, and passion. It costs no more to dream big than it does to dream small, in fact, dreaming small is extremely expensive. I want to wake up people to the fact that the United States of America is still the land of opportunity. This great nation was not founded by people who crossed the Atlantic Ocean, risking their lives and letting go of all that was familiar and known, in order to get a good job with benefits. Our nation was developed by risk takers and adventurers who risked everything to create a life where people could be free! I believe I can help others realize it is time to begin dreaming big and realizing your dreams because I believe you are so much more powerful than you may know!
When I choose to get involved in a business there are several important considerations before I will begin a business:
- First is the viability of the business- will it be successful and is it in an industry that will survive in our current economy? It does not make sense to start something that probably will fail.
- Second is the likelihood that I can actually succeed in that business based upon time and financial resources required, return on investment, and is it something I can feel good about doing?
- Third is most important to me in context with my larger mission; will this business and my involvement in it, make this world a better place? There are many things I can do and succeed in doing but will my efforts create more positive benefits than me not doing it?
